Automatic Tank Gauge Vulnerabilities. - The Vulnerability, Effectiveness of the manufacturer's Fix,  Suggested addition protection and ramifications of attacks.

This presentation describes the cause of the underlying Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) vulnerability to Cyber Attacks. The level of effectiveness of manufacturer's fix and  the types of attacks,  their ramifications, and the likelihood and type of future attacks. Known attacks will be described, as well as  their ramifications.

The types and effectiveness of additional protection methods will be presented as well as their implementation costs.

Jack Chadowitz will also present the results of tests that were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the manufacturer's vulnerability fixes, and tests on the effectiveness of other protection methods.

The  TCP/IP to serial converters used in Automatic Tank Gauges are common to many industrial control and SCADA systems. The presentation describes if and how the ATG vulnerabilities and fixes apply to other systems that use TCP/IP to serial converters  to Internet enable serial devices.
